What happens if I exceed my guide download limit?

Follow

Wait! There's a download limit?

Guides on the Standard plan are limited to 200 guide downloads. These 200 guide downloads include downloads of your guide onto iOS, Android, Amazon, and Blackberry devices.

Once the download limit is met, your guide may become unavailable for future downloads or web views (although there is a small buffer built in).

How do I avoid the download limit?

To ensure your guide remains active, we recommend upgrading to a Plus, Premium, or Branded plan. These plan levels include unlimited downloads!

Explore our detailed pricing page linked here for details.

Feel free to upgrade your plan through Builder, or reach out to us at Sales@guidebook.com.

Note:  You will not be charged without your consent for exceeding the limit.

Where is the link for adding unlimited downloads for $500?

    Hi Lisa,

Thank you very much for getting in touch with our team! We recently made a change to our system , and unfortunately unlimited downloads are no longer available a la carte. Please feel free to get in touch with us at contact@guidebook.com so that we can put together a solution that will work well for your event!

What happens if I "unsync" (delete) my downloaded guide? Will that give one more download back to the 200 limit?

Also, what should people do if the app crashes on their phones?

    Hi Jordan,

Great questions -- 1) Unsyncing a guide will not restore a download; as soon as a guide is downloaded, our system registers an install against the 200 limit. 2) Could you provide more information about the app crashes? The app shouldn't be crashing for users, and I'd love to get to the bottom of the issue! Feel free to send us a message at support@guidebook.com, and we'll help to diagnose the app crashing problem. Thanks!

    Thanks Jacob.
    1. That's not cool. How does that work if someone is looking at the web version, rather than actually downloading it to their phone?

    2. From what I've heard from at least a couple of users, after the app loads onto their iPhone 6 plus, when they attempt to open the app, it shows the blue guidebook logo, then the screen just goes white, and then crashes out.

    Hi Jordan,

I'm going to create a ticket on your behalf to hash out the crashing issues - with thorough testing, our team is having a hard time replicating these crashes; we certainly want to make sure your users will be able to access the app. With respect to the downloads, viewing a guide on the web will not count towards the initial download limit.

Great, thanks again Jacob. If more users report this issue to me, I will update you as well. I'm guessing it was a local (user's phone) issue. I suggested uninstalling the app, then doing a hard reset of their phone, then reinstalling the app to see if that worked. They emailed me back stating that the app worked fine after doing that.

Jordan - great to hear! I'll actually hold off on creating a ticket for you, but if you hear of more instances, don't hesitate to reach out! In general, you'll find speedier reply times by emailing our team at support@guidebook.com; we really appreciate you taking the time to comment on these articles -- it helps other users with similar questions.
