Schedule/Custom List Import

Invalid Date/Time Format

Please make sure that your Dates are in (MM/DD/YYYY) format and your Start Time and End Time are in (HH:MM AM/PM format).

A session has to have either a valid start and end time or be marked as All Day (in the start time column) in addition to a date column. So, if a session has a start time it must have an end time as well. Schedule: Adding Sessions to Your Event Agenda (Manual and Import)

If you have checked and it's still not working, it's possible that there an apostrophe (') at the start of the cell that is keeping the cell in text format. To fix this, select on the column/cell where you can see the apostrophe ('), click on “Data” from the Menu Bar, and select “Text to Columns.” Under Separator, put an apostrophe (') in the box for “Other,” check “Other,” and click Apply. This should remove the apostrophes and convert the cells to the right format.

Invalid Column Name. It appears you have renamed the template columns, or you are using an old template. Please correct.

The easiest way to troubleshoot this problem would be to download and use a fresh copy of our schedule or custom list templates, to ensure that you have the latest one. To do so, follow the instructions under our schedule import article.

If you have downloaded the latest template and are still getting this error, please reach out to us at support@guidebook.com.

There are special characters that we cannot recognize. Take these out, then try reimporting your file.

If you are using Excel to create your file: please save it as a .xls file, rather than a .csv file. This will ensure that characters are encoded in the appropriate format. Alternatively, you can download our .csv template, then copy-paste the information from your .xls file into it (remember not to touch the headers!).

If you are using Libre Office or Apache Office to create your file: please ensure that you are using a .csv file and saving it in the UTF-8 encoded format.

Your schedule track name is too long. The name you specified is: [track name]

Our uploader marks this as an issue usually when the schedule track name exceeds our 40 characters character limit. This is because if the track title is too long, it will get cut-off when people try to view it on certain device screens. Shortening the track name, or using a shortened place should allow it to upload successfully.

If you want the longer track name, you can use a shortened placeholder to upload (“Track 1”, for example) and then change it after it has been successfully uploaded to Builder. To do so, click on “Schedule” and select “Tracks” from the left-hand column. You will then be able to rename the tracks accordingly (to exceed 40 characters, if you wish).

Either a .xls or .csv file is required.

Our import system is only able to accept .csv or .xls files. If you are using another filetype please switch. If you are using .xls and still receive this error we recommend switching to .csv. Some versions of Microsoft Excel save certain items (typically dates) in a format our import system can't recognize. While we work to make this more compatible we recommend using .csv file's if you receive this error.

Error: we could not find the specific image

Our uploader will produce this error when it can't find the specific image. Double check that your import template and the filename of your image match exactly. Another cause for this is that the images were comprised within a folder. Our import system is looking for the images only to be compressed.

Multiple objects were found for "[Name of Object]". Please specify the object you want to link by entering its ID in the appropriate ID column.

This means that the item you linked to appears more than once in the guide, and has been assigned more than one item ID. To find the item ID of the one you want to link to, you can export your data to find the proper ID.  For more info on exporting data, check out our article: https://support.guidebook.com/hc/en-us/articles/204880574
