Upon logging into the Builder website, you’ll encounter the Your Guides dashboard. In this view, you’ll see all guides of which you are a collaborator. For your convenience, each guide has been marked with a Status to indicate the guide’s progress in its quest to become published.
If you’re part of an organization, select Org guides in the left sidebar. Guides are split into the In Progress tab (Building, Submitted, Published) and the History tab (Archived and Lapsed). You can also sort by status using the By Status sort menu.
You will also see the status in the guide below its space attachment.
Guide Statuses
A guide can exist in one of the following states:
Building
This status signifies an unpublished guide. You are still working on uploading your information, and the information is not live and accessible yet.
Submitted
This status signifies that your guide has been submitted for publishing to an app or Space, but it is not yet accessible. If you’re publishing to your own branded App or Space, there may be a few additional steps to go live.
Your guide can be published on any number of apps that you have access to. You can select which apps to publish on any time from your guide dashboard.
When you first request your guide to be published to an organization’s app or space, an admin of that organization must approve the request. Once your attachment request is approved, it won’t need to be re-approved unless the guide is manually detached.
If you’re publishing to the Guidebook space, your guide is approved automatically and typically appears in the app within 30 minutes.
Published
Your guide has been approved and is now available to download via the space or app it has been attached to.
If you have a single-guide app, you will need to submit your app to stores to make your guide available.
Updates Pending
Even when your guide is published, you can continue to make changes to it. This status suggests you have made changes to your guide that are not yet pushed out to your users. Click Publish updates to sync your changes. You may see Updates Pending throughout the process of creating and managing a guide.
Archived
90 days after your guide’s end date, your guide will become archived. You will still retain access to all metrics and data within your guide, but you will be unable to publish any new updates to your guide. Your users can continue to access your guide even after it has been archived. New guide downloads are possible during the Archived state.
Lapsed
Each guide is associated with an order. At the end of your guide’s subscription, it will move to a lapsed state. After this occurs, people won’t be able to download (or re-download) the guide, but guide admins retain access to its information on the Builder website.
Users who’ve already downloaded the guide to their device may continue to access it. Downloaded content is stored locally on a user's device, and will remain there until they choose to remove it.
Delisted
An outstanding balance has been unpaid and the guide has been removed from service. You may also see a banner on your Guides page if a guide has a past-due invoice.
Service statuses
Each guide card also shows a service status, which tells you whether the guide’s subscription is active:
In service: The guide’s subscription is active, and the guide can be published.
Service pending: The guide’s subscription hasn’t started yet. You can keep building, but you can’t publish until its activation date.
No plan: The guide hasn’t been activated on a subscription yet, so it can’t be published. See Publishing Your Guide and Making Updates for options and troubleshooting.
Common status questions
If you landed here because you're stuck on a specific status, start with the matching question below. The full status glossary is just above this section.
I'm getting an error when I try to publish.
The most common cause is an empty feature or item. Add a placeholder like "Coming soon," or disable the feature from its Settings tab, then try publishing again. See the publishing troubleshooting in Publishing Your Guide and Making Updates.
My guide says Submitted — how long until it's published?
If you published to the Guidebook space, your guide is approved automatically and should appear within 30 minutes. If you published to a branded app or space, your org admin needs to approve the attachment first.
My guide says Building and I can't publish.
"Building" just means it hasn't been submitted yet. To publish, open the guide and click Submit guide in the top-right corner — see Publishing Your Guide and Making Updates for the full walkthrough and common errors.
My guide shows Updates Pending - what do I do?
You've made changes that haven't been pushed out yet. Click Publish updates again to sync them to your users' devices.
My guide is Archived - can I still update it or extend it?
Once a guide is archived (90 days after your end date), you can't publish new updates, but existing users keep access and new downloads remain possible. If you want to use that guide beyond the active date range, please reach out to your account manager or myam@guidebook.com. They can help you purchase a new guide and copy your archived content into it under a new active date range.
My guide is Lapsed - can I bring it back?
Lapsed means the subscription on the associated order has ended. New downloads aren't possible, but users who already downloaded keep access. To restore the guide, contact your account manager or email myam@guidebook.com to renew the order.
My guide is Delisted - what does this mean?
An outstanding balance is unpaid and the guide has been removed from service. Reach out to your account manager, email myam@guidebook.com or billing@guidebook.com to resolve.
My guide isn't showing up where I expected.
From Org guides, toggle the view from the default In Progress view to the History view — most "missing guide" issues turn out to be Archived, Lapsed, or Delisted. If the status looks fine, see Accessing and Using a Guidebook App.
